She earned her medical degree from Jose Rizal School of Medicine Xavier University Cagayan de Oro City and subsequently completed her residency in pediatrics and then pursued a Medical Nutrition Fellowship at St Lukes Medical Center- Quezon City. As a clinician, Dr. Sy specializes in Adult and Pediatrics Medical Nutrition, with a particular focus on critically ill and parenteral nutrition. Her dedication to patient care is matched by her commitment to medical education. Dr. Sy is an Associate Professor at 2 medical schools in her hometown where she teaches Pediatric Nutrition to undergraduate medical students and residents. She currently serves as the training officer for the Medical Nutrition Fellowship program of Davao Regional Medical Center in Tagum City. Dr. Sy current research interests focus on nutrition screening and assessment of admitted patients in governement hospitals as well as reveiwing research papers conducted by the residents and fellows in training. She is a member of the Research Committee of pediatric department’s residency training program and also serves as an abstract reviewer for ASPEN (the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition).1.
